The Complete 14-Step Guide to Making Your DIY Resin Pooja Thali at Home

A Little Resin, A Little Sparkle, A Whole Lot of Festive Magic!

Welcome to your DIY Resin Pooja Thali Kit! Everything you need to create a beautiful, personalised pooja thali is right inside your kit. You choose the colours, the sparkle, the placement and the little details — you make it yours! Beautiful resin pieces are made with a little patience. Don't rush it!

First, Let's See What's Inside Your Kit

  • Resin Essentials: 300 g Resin + Hardener (2:1 ratio: 200g Resin + 100g Hardener), mixing cups, mixing sticks, hand gloves, and mask.
  • Pooja Thali Components: 1 Pooja Thali mould, 2 Ready-Made Kum Kum Katoris, 1 Ready-Made Tea Light Holder, 2 Metal Leaves, 1 Metal Ganesha Sticker, and 1 Metal Swastik Sticker.
  • Decoration & Bling: 2 Small Pearl Rings (for the Kum Kum Katoris), 1 Large Pearl Ring (for the Tea Light Holder), 3 Mica Powders, 3 Glitters, and a generous amount of Gold Flakes.

Before You Begin: Workspace & Safety

Resin is fun, but it needs a little respect too! Work in a clean, flat and well-ventilated area. Cover your work surface with plastic, paper or another disposable protective covering. Wear the gloves and mask provided in your kit. Keep children and pets away from the workspace while working with uncured resin. Make sure your mould is clean, dry and free from dust. Keep your resin and hardener away from food, flames and moisture.

Step 1 to 3: Plan Your Design, Measure 2:1 & Mix Mix Mix!

Step 1 (Plan Your Design): Take a moment to decide how you want your thali to look. Choose your base colour (mica powder), your sparkle (glitter), and decide where you want your gold flakes to shine. There is no wrong design — make it your style! Step 2 (Measure Your Resin Correctly): This is one of the MOST important steps. The ratio is 2:1 (2 Parts Resin + 1 Part Hardener). For the complete 300 g kit: measure 200 g Resin + 100 g Hardener = 300 g total. Do not guess the ratio! Incorrect measurements can prevent your resin from curing properly. Step 3 (Mix, Mix, Mix!): Pour the resin into a clean mixing cup, then add the hardener. Slowly mix using the provided mixing stick. Scrape the bottom and sides of the cup while mixing until completely combined. Slow & steady wins! Mix gently rather than aggressively to avoid micro-bubbles.

Step 4 to 6: Mica Powders, Sparkle & Gold Flakes

Step 4 (Add Your Mica Powder): Add a small amount of mica powder and mix thoroughly. Remember: You can always add more, so start small and build your colour gradually. Want a softer shade? Add less mica. Want a deeper, richer colour? Add a little more. Want a Marble Effect? Prepare two or more colours separately, pour them into the mould one after another and gently swirl them together using a mixing stick. Don't over-swirl! Step 5 (Add Some Sparkle!): Add your chosen glitter to the resin. You can mix it directly into your coloured resin or sprinkle some into the mould. Our favourite trick: Don't make everything sparkle; a little contrast makes the sparkle stand out even more. Coloured resin + Fine glitter + Gold flakes = Festive perfection! Step 6 (Gold Flakes = Instant Luxury): Your kit comes with a good amount of gold flakes, so don't be shy! Scatter them randomly, create a concentrated gold corner, arrange them around the edges, or break larger flakes into smaller pieces. Pro Tip: Let them float and spread naturally. That's where the magic happens!

Step 7 to 9: Pouring, Curing & The Big Reveal!

Step 7 (Pour Your Thali): Slowly pour your prepared resin into the Pooja Thali mould gradually rather than dumping everything at once. Use your mixing stick to gently guide resin into corners and edges. Don't overfill! Step 8 (Let Your Thali Cure): And now... the hardest part: WAIT! Leave your filled mould completely undisturbed in a flat, dust-free place away from direct sunlight, children and pets. Don't demould too early — premature demoulding can bend, damage or distort your beautiful piece. Step 9 (The Big Reveal!): Once your resin has fully cured, gently remove your thali from the silicone mould. Flex the mould gently around the edges and carefully release the piece. TA-DA! Your very own handmade resin Pooja Thali!

Step 10 to 14: Embellishments & Ready-Made Accessories

Step 10 (Add Decorative Metal Leaves): Take the 2 metal leaves and place them on your thali wherever they complement your design. Step 11 (Add the Ganesha & Swastik): Place 1 Ganesha Metal Sticker and 1 Swastik Metal Sticker. Pro Tip: Before sticking them down, place everything on the thali first without attaching it. Move pieces around until the composition feels balanced, then stick them down! Step 12 (Arrange Ready-Made Kum Kum Katoris): Both Kum Kum Katoris are already ready to use — no resin making required! Place them on the thali and slip 1 small pearl ring around each katori. Katori + Pearl Ring = Instant Fancy! Step 13 (Add the Tea Light Holder): Place your ready-made Tea Light Holder on the thali and place the 1 large pearl ring around it to bring all that sparkle together. Step 14 (Arrange Everything Together): Step back and admire your complete thali! 1 Handmade Resin Pooja Thali, 2 Ready-Made Kum Kum Katoris, 2 Small Pearl Rings, 1 Ready-Made Tea Light Holder, 1 Large Pearl Ring, 2 Metal Leaves, Ganesha & Swastik Stickers, and your unique resin design. AND YOU'RE DONE! Just mix · create · pour · cure · decorate · arrange.
